Police in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality have arrested and charged two men followed an alleged assault where a man was found covered in blood in a New Waterford residence.

Officers say Justin David Burke, 18, faces a number of charges including, assault with a weapon, break and enter, uttering threats and mischief.

Charles Wilbert Walker-Harte, 23, also faces a number of charges including assault with a weapon, break and enter, uttering threats, mischief and breach of conditions.

Both men have been remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre, pending a court appearance scheduled for Monday.

Police said they had to surround the residence where Walker-Harte was located and then obtain a warrant to enter the residence and make the arrest on Friday.

Cape Breton Regional Police originally responded to reports of a male covered in blood on Wilson Avenue at 5 p.m.

Police allege the man was assaulted by two people, both known to the victim.

The victim was transported to Cape Breton Regional Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.
