RCMP trying to track driver of pickup after Wednesday incident
The RCMP say two men had to swim to safety after a bizarre incident on a Bay St. Lawrence Wharf Wednesday.
Police said a pickup truck pushed a car along the wharf, forcing it into the water.
There were two men in the car at the time.
RCMP Sgt. Al Leblanc said the incident began as an argument and escalated when the truck started pushing.
“The vehicle was forced over the end of the wharf in Bay St. Lawrence by a pickup truck. Thankfully the two occupants of the car that plunged into the water, they were able to swim to shore. As you could imagine this could have had very tragic consequences," he said.
"It's important to note that at this time we know that this is not a random act. These people know one another."
Police said they are now trying to find the driver of the pickup truck.
