Tow trucks are working to remove a vehicle that went off the road and ended up on a frozen lake in Waverley, N.S.,  on Sunday afternoon.

Police said a 53-year-old Waverley man lost control of his truck, went over an embankment and ended up on the ice just before 12:24 p.m.

"The Ford pickup truck 4x4 was travelling outbound towards Dartmouth when it lost control and left the road going on to Lake William," said RCMP Cst. Tammy Lobb.

She said the driver got out safely and the vehicle did not break through the ice.

The driver does not have any serious injuries.

RCMP are at the scene directing traffic as two crews work to get the vehicle.
