A Timberlea garage has been destroyed and a home left with minor damage after a fire Tuesday afternoon.

Brad Connors, acting division commander for Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency, said they received the call around 3:55 p.m. to Deerwood Lane. Firefighters found a detached garage in flames.

Connors said there was some concern early on about what was stored in the garage.

"It's a typical garage," he said. "It had gasoline, small propane cylinders."

According to Connors, also inside were a few ATVs and a tractor.

"The house was mildly affected," he said. "Some siding was melted, but other than that, the house is in good shape."

Investigators have arrived and are trying to determine the cause of the blaze.

There were no injuries and no one was home at the time.
