Digby-Annapolis Harold "Junior" Theriault announced today he would not run in the next election.

Theriault, who was first elected in 2003, is the party's fisheries critic. Before entering politics, he spent 35 years in the commercial fishery in southwestern Nova Scotia.

He says the move comes on the heels of advice from his doctor.

"Get the stress out of my life — those were the doctor's orders," he said. "And if you're going to do this job right, it has to be stressful."
