A man who called police saying three men broke into his home faces charges himself after police found a number of marijuana plants in his home early Friday morning.
Halifax Regional Police were called to Ruben Court in Dartmouth around 1:50 a.m. A 35-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman said three men, including one man who appeared to have a gun, came in through an open window demanding their valuables.
The homeowners said the thieves made off with cell phones, electronics and car keys. They then took off in the victim’s car.
Police later found it abandoned, nearby.
Investigators said they found the marijuana plants while a forensic officer were processing evidence in the home.
The 35-year–old was arrested for possession and will appear in court at a later date.
Police are still hunting for the three suspects.
They said this not a random act.
It was a busy night for police. Officers also responded to a fire at an abandoned building on Wyse Road in Dartmouth around 10 p.m. on Thursday.
Police are calling it suspicious.
No one was hurt and the fire was put out quickly.
