A young man was stabbed in Halifax early Saturday.

Halifax police were called to the 100-200 block of Jarvis Lane at 12:10 a.m. and found a 19-year-old with numerous stab wounds to the torso.

"It was determined that the victim and another male had gotten into an altercation at a different address on Jarvis Lane and that is where the male was stabbed," said Staff Sgt. Reid McCoombs.

Police later arrested a 31-year-old man on Highfield Park Drive in Dartmouth.

The victim was treated in hospital. No charges have yet been laid.
