Halifax Regional Police say a 17–year–old boy faces more than a dozen charges after being arrested in connection with an assault on two groups of people selling jewelry online.
The first attack happened on April 30. A man agreed to meet up with two people who offered to buy the jewelry he was selling on Kijiji, the online classified site.
They met at the intersection of Gaston Road and Lacomb Drive in Dartmouth, where the seller was sprayed with a noxious substance by one of the buyers. The buyers took off with the jewelry in hand.
The next day, a similar scenario played out when a group of four sellers met up with two buyers on Sackville Drive. The sellers were also sprayed and the suspects took the jewelry.
The teenager was arrested Wednesday at a traffic stop on Westridge Avenue. Police said they found cocaine, cannabis and prescription medication when they made the arrest.
He's been charged with two counts of robbery, five counts of assault with a weapon, five counts of administering a noxious substance and three counts of possessing drugs with the purpose of trafficking.
