Taser used on 'confrontational' teen at Bedford motel

Halifax police say they were forced to use a conductive energy weapon and then pepper spray to subdue and arrest an aggressive 16-year-old boy at the Traveller’s Motel near Halifax on Tuesday morning.

Police were called to the motel on the Bedford highway at 7:15 a.m. seeking an arrestable youth.

Once there, they were confronted at the door of the motel by a 42-year-old man wielding a knife.  He was arrested and faces assault with a weapon charges.

The teen took off running.

"Officers were able to catch up to him, however he became confrontational," said Halifax police Const. Pierre Bourdages

Police used a Taser, but it failed to stop him

They were finally able to subdue the teen using pepper spray.

The youth was taken to hospital as part of the standard procedure following a tasering.

He is facing 11 charges of breach of conditions and two counts of resisting arrest.
