A 23-year-old Cape Breton man charged with arson following fires Wednesday night in Sydney involving a propane truck and a vacant house will remain in custody over the weekend.
The suspect was scheduled to be in Sydney provincial court Friday for a bail hearing, but that has been put over until Monday.
He is charged with arson with disregard for human life, and arson causing property damage, according to police.
Police were notified of a propane truck on fire on Kings Road around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. A house fire on George Street was reported at 9:15 p.m.
The man was arrested at the scene of a third fire around 11 p.m. in a garage on Kings Road, according to Cape Breton Regional Police, when officers realized he fit the description of a man seen near the truck fire.
All three fires were extinguished and no injuries were reported.
