This weekend people from towns called Stratford, including from Prince Edward Island, are meeting up for the annual Stratfords of the World Reunion.

This year the meeting is happening in Connecticut.

“At the end of the day what we've found is that most people around the world have very, very many similarities and I think if they can get together and exchange conversation and experiences in history, we have a lot in common,” said P.E.I.’s Stratford Mayor David Dunphy.

There are about 20 Islanders taking part in this year's reunion.

There are Stratford sister cities in England, Australia, New Zealand and one in Ontario.

The reunion goes on until Aug. 5
