The man accused of killing Nova Scotia teen Amber Kirwan will go to trial in early January.

Christopher Falconer's lawyer and the Crown appeared in Supreme Court in Pictou on Thursday morning to discuss trial dates.

They agreed the trial will begin on Jan. 6 of next year and run for the entire month.

Kirwan disappeared in October 2011 after a night out with friends in New Glasgow.

Her body was found in a wooded area off Heathbell Road, about a 30 minute drive from the pool hall where she was last seen.

Falconer is charged with kidnapping and second degree murder in her death.
