A man accused of killing a prominent man in Halifax’s gay community has rehired his lawyer a month after firing him in court.
Andre Noel Denny, 33, appeared in provincial court Tuesday. He’s charged with second degree murder in the beating death of Raymond Taavel.
In February, Denny accused his lawyer, Don Murray, of showing up at a meeting at the East Coast Forensic Hospital with a knife. He fired Murray, saying their trust was broken.
Murray said he met with Denny and Denny’s family Monday, and agreed to take the case once again.
The dates of Denny’s preliminary inquiry have now been set for July 8 – 10.
