The 27-year-old man police arrested following a string of robberies in Halifax on Saturday attempted an escape from custody later that same night.
While being escorted from the interview room to the booking detention area at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, the man made a run for it, dashing through a door.
He didn’t get very far after escaping into a gated compound outside.
Police said they promptly captured the man within the compound and he was brought back inside without incident.
In addition to charges related to Saturday's four robberies — three of which were armed — the man will also face charges of escape from lawful custody and another breach of probation charge.
