A member of the navy was airlifted to 12 Wing Shearwater earlier this evening after a medical emergency forced crews to dispatch the sailor in a helicopter.
Lt. Jennifer Fidler, a spokesperson with navy public affairs, said the sailor was airlifted from HMCS Iroquois at around 6 p.m. Tuesday evening. The helicopter landed at Shearwater and the sailor was then transported to hospital.
Fidler said the sailor suffered non-life threatening injuries.
She would not disclose where the ship was when the helicopter was dispatched, but said the ship was in St. John's, N.L. over the weekend as a part of a training exercise.
