Accused in Amber Kirwan case will stand trial

Convicted killer Christopher Alexander Falconer has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Amber Kirwan. (CBC)Chris Falconer has been ordered to stand trial for the first-degree murder of Amber Kirwan.
Kirwan, 19, vanished in October 2011 after a night out with friends in New Glasgow, N.S.
On Nov. 5, her remains were found in a wooded area off Heathbell Road, about a 30 minute drive from the pool hall where she was last seen.
Falconer, 29, is charged with kidnapping and first-degree murder in Kirwan's death.
At the time Kirwan disappeared, Falconer was out on parole after serving time in prison for the second-degree murder of a cab driver in 1998.
Falconer's preliminary inquiry ended on Tuesday in Pictou County.
