Police arrest 2nd paramedic for alleged drug theft
Incidents are alleged to have occurred between 2009 and 2013

Nova Scotia RCMP say they have arrested a Queens County paramedic accused of stealing and misusing drugs, less than a week after police in Halifax charged a paramedic in the city for similar reasons.
Tuesday night at around 8:00 p.m. RCMP executed a search warrant at a home on Wolfe Street in Liverpool where they seized syringes and medical containers.
Following the search, RCMP arrested a 47-year-old man who will be facing charges under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
RCMP said Emergency Health Services officials alerted police about the theft and misuse of drugs on Feb. 15. The incidents are alleged to have occurred between 2009 and 2013.
The man is scheduled to appear in Liverpool provincial court April 16.
Last week, a 25-year-old paramedic from Halifax was charged with stealing drugs.
Zachary Dewar, who is also a Dalhousie University medical student, had been a paramedic with Emergency Health Services since 2006. He has since been fired and the province has suspended his paramedic's licence.
Police allege Dewar tampered with vials of controlled substances including morphine and Valium.
He has been charged with one count each of possessing narcotics, breach of trust, theft of morphine under $5,000, possession of stolen morphine under $5,000 and mischief.
