Striking faculty at Nova Scotia's St. Francis Xavier University are voting on a tentative agreement Friday that would bring students back to class on Monday.

The union says that the executive is recommending approval of the deal. The union is also planning a celebratory rally in the morning.

A union update for the 400 faculty and supporters urges them to form a human chain around the campus and to bang pots and pans.

The strike at the school in Antigonish began Jan. 28 after the union went eight months without a contract.

The deal extends the school year by one week to make up for some lost classroom time for the university's 4,200 students.
