A water line break near the Woodside ferry terminal in Dartmouth has forced the closure of the terminal for Monday's commute.

In a news release Tiffany Chase, with Halifax Regional Municipality, said the flooding at the terminal was severe enough to close the ferry hub.

In the meantime, Metro Transit will provide a shuttle service for ferry passengers between the Alderney and Woodside terminals during regular Woodside ferry service hours.

The Alderney shuttle will depart from the MetroLink bus stop on Alderney Drive in front of the library, and the Woodside shuttle will depart from the bus stop in front of the Woodside ferry terminal building.

Metro Transit is advising passengers that this weekend's heavy snowfall may result in some service delays during Monday's commute.

Chase said in a release that passengers should plan extra time for Monday's commute and use extra caution at bus terminals and stops as they may be blocked by snow.

The city expects it will take several days to fully clear snow from streets, walkways and bus stops, Chase said.

"Buses may not be able to pull fully into bus stops and the loading and unloading of buses may take longer than usual," she stated.
