Maritimes prep for possible weekend weather wallop

Eastern Canada is bracing for what could be one of the biggest storms of the season.
Environment Canada has already issued a winter storm watch for all three Maritime provinces. The region could see 20 to 40 centimetres of snow on Saturday.
"The weather on Saturday is going to be on the nasty side," said CBC meteorologist Kalin Mitchell.
He said two low-pressure systems moving in from the Midwestern U.S., and the Gulf states are expected to bring heavy snowfalls.
"We could be looking at extended whiteout conditions for Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and parts of southern New Brunswick on Saturday," said Mitchell.
A number of events including the Long Pond Heritage Classic have already been cancelled because of the pending storm.
The Halifax's Stanfield International Airport has posted a warning on its website saying weekend travellers should brace for delays.
Air Canada put out a similar warning for a number of cities in Eastern and Central Canada.
The airline said passengers flying from Bathurst, Charlottetown, Fredericton, St. John's, Moncton, Sydney and Halifax should prepare for possible delays on Saturday and Sunday.
