A Halifax Regional Police constable has been charged with sexual assault and administering a noxious thing for incidents alleged to have happened in November.
Nova Scotia's Serious Incident Response Team laid the charges against Const. Chris Mosher on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old constable has been with the Halifax Regional Police for four years.
The Serious Incident Response Team began an investigation after receiving a complaint from a woman in early November alleging a police officer had sexually assaulted her.
The parties know each other and the incident is alleged to have occurred in Mosher's home.
Mosher was arrested in December and released on conditions, including not having any contact with the alleged victim and not carrying a firearm.
He's due to appear in provincial court Feb. 13.
Mosher is the third Nova Scotia police officer charged this year as a result of investigations by the Serious Incident Response Team. The organization said six officers have been charged since the unit launched in April 2012.
