A 66-year-old male driver has been ticketed after a 23-year-old female pedestrian was hit on Quinpool Road on Wednesday night.
Halifax Regional Police said the woman was crossing Quinpool Road at Harvard Street just before 10 p.m. when she was struck by a Dodge Caravan that was making a left turn onto Quinpool Road from Harvard Street.
She was knocked to the ground but was not injured. She was assessed by emergency crews at the scene, said police.
The 66-year-old male driver was ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
Halifax Regional Police have just launched a three-month campaign to raise awareness about crosswalk safety. Police officers will be stationed at six intersections in the Halifax Regional Municipality to provide tips and suggestions if they witness any situations that could be improved with safety.
