A 37-year-old Halifax man is accused of robbing two taxi drivers at knifepoint in less than a day.
Halifax Regional Police were called to 18 Evans Ave. in Fairview early Monday morning after a taxi driver said a passenger had threatened him with a knife, took his cellphone and fled.
The passenger had been picked up at the Atlantic Superstore on Joseph Howe Drive.
There were no injuries.
At 11:53 p.m. on Monday, Halifax Regional Police were called to Fairview again — this time to Main Avenue, after another taxi driver reported being robbed at knifepoint.
The passenger, who had been picked up by the cab on Dutch Village Road, fled after he got some money.
Halifax Regional Police say they used its canine team for about 30 minutes before arresting the 37-year-old man.
He is expected in Halifax provincial court on Tuesday to face robbery and weapons-related charges.
