Halifax Regional Police are asking for the public's help locating the rightful owner of a stone angel statue found outside a building in Bedford on Monday night.

The stone statue, which is approximately one metre tall and weighs more than 90 kilograms, was found outside a building on Nelsons Landing Boulevard off the Bedford Highway.

Police believe the statue was left outside the building between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The statue has a metal rod sticking out from the bottom and Halifax Regional Police believe it was likely displayed outside a place of worship or at a cemetery.

Given its size, police said at least two people would have been required to carry it.

The statue does not appear to have come from the immediate area, leading officers to believe a vehicle was used to transport it.
