New Glasgow police investigate 'suspicious' fire

Police and fire officials are investigating what police are called a "suspicious" fire in Trenton early Sunday morning.
The fire happened sometime before 4 a.m. Sunday at 34 Main Street.
RCMP Forensic Identification Unit, the Nova Scotia Fire Marshalls Office and New Glasgow Regional Police Service investigators were on scene and continue to investigate.
Const. Ken MacDonald, with the New Glasgow police, said no one was in the house at the time.
He said the house was heavily damaged in the fire.
In a news release, police said, "The fire is suspicious in nature," but MacDonald would not comment on what evidence, if any, investigators found.
"The house at the time was unoccupied and as a precaution to the investigation, we secure the scene and wait for the forensic team and the Nova Scotia Fire Marshall's office as well as our major crimes unit to investigate," he said, "Then we'll determine if it was an arson."
The cause is still under investigation.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact them of Crime Stoppers.
