A pedestrian was seriously hurt in a hit-and-run in Stewiacke in one of three recent collisions on roads in Nova Scotia.
RCMP said the 40-year-old man was struck Wednesday evening while he was walking on Highway 2.
The vehicle left, but the man used his cellphone to call for help, RCMP said.
The man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
There were two collisions in the Halifax region, prompting police to urge drivers to slow down and pedestrians to pay closer attention to their surroundings.
On Wednesday afternoon, a woman was left with minor injuries after she was struck while walking across Herring Cove Road.
Pedestrian, driver fined
Halifax Regional police said she wasn't at a crosswalk so she faces a $400 fine for jaywalking.
Police said the driver of the car was issued a ticket for driving while suspended and having no insurance.
In an incident Thursday morning, a man was struck at a marked crosswalk on the Bedford Highway near the Sunnyside Mall. He suffered minor injuries.
Police said charges are pending.
"Police remind motorists and pedestrians that road safety is a shared responsibility," Halifax Regional Police said in a statement.
