Many people in Cheticamp are still without power and flights are delayed at the Halifax airport as a result of the stormy weather that hit Eastern Canada yesterday.

High winds knocked out power in Cheticamp late Thursday. Nova Scotia Power says 111 customers are without electricity, but they should get it back by 9 a.m.

Halifax Stanfield International Airport is reporting a number of flight delays and cancellations. Travellers should call ahead to check the status of their flights.

Many areas of Nova Scotia were hit with snow and high winds Thursday as a storm system moved east from Ontario and Quebec.

Police in the Halifax area said they received 39 reports of crashes on slippery roads. One pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

By mid-afternoon, the snow had turned into rain in the Halifax region.

There are no longer any weather warnings for mainland Nova Scotia. However, a Les Suetes wind warning remains in place for Inverness County.

CBC meteorologist Peter Coade said there were wind gusts of 131 km/h in Inverness County early Friday.

By 4 a.m. Friday, Sydney had two centimetres of snow and Greenwood in the Annapolis Valley had 11 centimetres.

Coade said it's a good time to clean up the sidewalks and driveways before the temperature drops Friday night.
