RCMP were kept busy overnight in situations involving four stolen cars in three separate incidents.
The trouble began just before 4:30 a.m. when RCMP in Tantallon received a report that a Volkswagen Golf and Kia Rio were stolen from a home on Shankel Road in Hubbards.
Police spotted the freshly stolen vehicles heading towards Halifax on Highway 103.
The drivers of the vehicles took Exit 5, where police tried to stop them.
"The driver of the Volkswagen then rammed one of the police vehicles and sped off," said Cpl. Scott MacRae.
Both the Volkswagen and the Kia then sped away on Highway 103.
Kia stopped
Approximately 20 minutes later, the police found the Kia on the Timberlea Parkway. This time, they were able to stop the vehicle, and arrested a 21-year-old man.
"He is in our custody and we are still looking at what charges are coming," said MacRae.
Other stolen vehicles
At the same time, the police found a Ford Taurus that was stolen on December 4. The Taurus was also on Highway 103, at the same exit – 5.
Nearby, the police spotted a 19-year-old hitchhiker and arrested him for ignoring court ordered restrictions. Police say that investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, at 6:40 a.m., a truck was reported stolen from Jeep Crescent in Eastern Passage.
