The Colchester Regional Hospital has moved all 88 patients into its new, $184-million facility in Truro.

The patients were transferred one at a time every five minutes on Sunday.

By mid-afternoon on Sunday, Peter MacKinnon, the CEO of the East Hants Health Authority, said everything was going smoothly.

"They are going very well. We have been planning for this overall for a couple years, so we have a big team of our own staff and volunteers on hand. We also have EHS for moving them in ambulances," he said.

Other parts of the hospital, including the emergency room and surgery departments, will be moved later this week.

Krista Wood, spokeswoman for the authority, said they had one new person at the new site as a baby was born there at 1:44 p.m.

Wood said the move was complete at about 2 p.m.
