Michael Kevin Stanhope leaves court Aug. 28. (CBC)A 66-year-old Bayside, N.S., man is expected to face new sex assault charges, but the Crown has reduced the conditions of his bail in the meantime.
Michael Kevin Stanhope already faces charges of sexual assault and making and distributing child pornography.
Crown prosecutor Catherine Cogswell said Wednesday she expects to lay more charges in relation to Stanhope's time as a volunteer soccer coach.
She said other additional charges she had expected to lay were dropped because the complainants were above the age of consent.
But until more charges are laid, Stanhope's bail conditions have been relaxed. His cash bail was reduced from $25,000 to $15,000 and his house arrest reduced to an 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew.
He also must stay offline and stay away from children and his business. He must stay away from the alleged victim.
Stanhope was arrested in August and police searched his Faders Road home in the rural community of Bayside in the Halifax Regional Municipality, as well as his business — the Hairdressers' Market in Halifax.
Police say the search of his business found images that could constitute child pornography.
The charges have not been tested in court.
