Police in several Cape Breton communities were busy dealing with four cases of alleged impaired driving and one crash overnight Saturday.
The crash was in Little Bras D'Or, around 8:30 p.m. A vehicle went into a ditch on Church Road.
Cape Breton Regional Police said the driver fled the scene, leaving behind a 2006 Pontiac that was seriously damaged. Police said there are no apparent injuries.
Around the same time, police charged a 64-year-old man near James Street in New Waterford with impaired driving.
Then, in the early hours of Sunday, three more drivers found themselves in trouble with the law:
- A 34-year-old man from Birch Grove was stopped near Commercial Street in Glace Bay for drunk driving at 12:50 a.m.
- In Sydney, a 20-year-old man was charged with impaired driving near Bentinck Street.
- In New Waterford around 2:30 a.m., police charged a 46-year-old man from Albert Bridge with impaired driving. He was stopped near MacLeod Avenue.
