Truro voters have re-elected long-sitting mayor Bill Mills. Mills snagged 2,228 votes, nearly 300 more than challenger Keltie Jones.

Jones pushed for change, while Mills argued his experience after 15 years on the job made him the top candidate.

“She said she was going for my throat, she wasn’t kidding,” Mills told CBC after being declared the winner.

He said he was impressed by how well Jones did in her first campaign.

Truro was hit by significant floods in September, which was a key issue in the debate.

Mills said his re-election means he can continue to work on several projects.

“We’ve got a lot going for ourselves in this town,” he said. “I feel like there are a few things I’d like to finish.”
