Police responded to two serious car accidents in Cape Breton over the course of a few hours, on Thursday night and early Friday morning.

The most serious crash happened around 1:20 a.m. Friday. Police said a single vehicle crashed on Scotch Lake Road.

A woman in her twenties suffered serious injury. Police said she was conscious as the scene.

The driver – a man in his twenties – suffered a head injury.

The two victims, who are from the Northside, were taken to Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

The second crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Thursday on Upper Leitches Creek Road.

A car went off the road into a deep gully.

A 46–year–old Leitches Creek man had to be removed from the car using the jaws of life. Police said he had minor injuries. They suspect a health issue may have contributed to that crash.

Both incidents are being investigated.
