Electoral Boundaries Commission to release final report

Teresa MacNeil says all members of the commission will attend the release of the report. (CBC)The long-awaited final report from the Electoral Boundaries Commission will be released next week.
The commission will hand the report to the Attorney General on Sept. 24. It will be released to the public online the following morning at 9:30.
"I want to thank all Nova Scotians for their significant input, interest and patience with this process," Teresa MacNeil, chair of the commission, said in a release.
The report has been under fire for months. In June, Premier Darrell Dexter said the commission violated its mandate when it recommended keeping four small ridings for francophone and black minority groups.
The ridings include Clare, Argyle, Preston and Richmond.
Dexter told the commission at the time that they had to follow a rule that requires constituencies to be within 25 per cent of the average number of electors.
In August, more than 2,500 people attended a public meeting in Yarmouth to oppose splitting the town into two ridings.
