Flu cancels Halifax Mooseheads pre-season game

The Halifax Mooseheads have cancelled Friday night's pre-season game with the Saint John Sea Dogs because nearly half of the Mooseheads players have come down with the flu.
The illness has left the Mooseheads with "an inoperable number of players for tonight's game," according to a message posted to the hockey team's website.
Cam Russell, the general manager of the Halifax Mooseheads, told CBC News six or seven players — all forwards — came down with the flu-like symptoms Thursday night.
"We had one more this morning. Most of them came down with it last night. But like I say, you never know with the flu, it could hit a couple more guys tomorrow," Russell said Friday.
"We're just crossing our fingers and hoping that if it does go through the team that we're done with it for the season."
Russell said he's hoping the players will be healthy in time for Sunday's exhibition game in Saint John.
Friday's cancelled game will not be rescheduled and people who have purchased tickets can get a refund at the Antlers Merchandise Store between Sept. 17 and Oct. 1.
Friday night's game was to take place at the Halifax Forum.
