Next CBRM mayor could have a criminal record

Two of the candidates running for mayor in the CBRM have criminal records.
Glenn Jessome was convicted of assault in 2010. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and 18 months probation.
He was also banned from owning weapons for 10 years.
Jessome could not be reached for comment.
Wilf Isaac was convicted of assault in 2007, and sentenced to a year's probation.
Isaac said it was a minor incident —no more than a scuffle — dating back to his time with a group called Citizens Against Strip Mining.
Nova Scotia's Municipal Act prohibits people from running for office if they are convicted of a crime with a sentence of more than five years.
The act also prevents people from running if they've been convicted of bribery or a corrupt practice within the past five years.
