The minister responsible for Nova Scotia's Office of Emergency Management says the Dexter government is considering an aid package for victims of this week's flooding.

Ross Landry said whatever help the government can offer would have its limits.

"One is the total costing and the other is whether it's an insurable item. For example, if something is an insurable item and someone just didn't buy insurance then that's not something the province steps in," he said.

"If it's something not insurable and damage is done there and it falls in that criteria then it's something we'll consider to pay."

Landry said the government should be able to make a decision on aid within weeks.
