The RCMP officially opened their new office in North Preston on Wednesday.

Officers are hoping a full-time presence in the community will increase their visibility, help reduce violence and improve relations between the police and the people.

The seven-member unit will be staffed on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to North Preston, the officers will also serve the communities of East Preston, Cherry Brook and Lake Loon.

The CBC's Rob Gordon visited the new office, which is built into the North Preston Community Centre.
