Northwood employees who work at Ivany House seniors' facility in Bedford have reached a tentative agreement with their employer.

The tentative agreement was reached Tuesday evening, just hours before the union was in a legal strike position to strike.

No details about the deal are being released until workers are able to review it.

They will vote on it Wednesday night.

The 158 workers are members of the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union Local 41.

The workers include continuing care assistants, client support, maintenance, recreation, laundry and dietary staff.

“We are pleased to announce the bargaining committee has reached a tentative agreement they feel they can recommend to the membership,” Joan Jessome, NSGEU president, said in a release. “This has been an example of how collective bargaining works.”
