A Nova Scotia truck driver has been charged with criminal negligence causing death for an accident that killed a 61-year-old New Brunswick man earlier this year.
Grant Donnell, from Dieppe, died in a crash Jan. 24 involving two tractor-trailers on the Cobequid Pass, about two kilometres from the toll station.
Police said one tractor-trailer was pulled off onto the shoulder of the westbound lanes of the highway when it was hit by the second truck, which then burst into flames, killing the driver.
Weather conditions were poor at the time.
Albert Merle Fleet, 61, of Lantz appeared in Nova Scotia Provincial Court today on the charge.
His election and plea was adjourned until Oct. 3 to give him time to consult with legal counsel.
