The Maritimes' first official Apple Retail Store opened its doors in Halifax this morning, but not exactly as planned.

A power outage this morning caused nearly a one hour delay for the popular store's grand opening.

The lights came back on around 10:20 a.m.

Rumours that the tech company was opening at the Halifax Shopping Centre had been swirling for months, long before the official announcement.

The store features its famous iPhone and iPad products along with staff to help with technical support who are available at, what Apple calls, the "Genius Bar".

It's a first for the region and the 25th store in Canada.
