A custody battle over a two year old Nova Scotia boy has gone all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada. But the court has decided not to get involved.
The boy, who cannot be identified, was in the care of the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services.
The boy was placed in foster care with a woman who wanted to permanently adopt the boy. The department instead took the boy from her, and gave him to another mother.
The foster mother appealed the department's decision to the Nova Scotia Supreme Court, which sided with her, and ordered a review. The government appealed that decision to the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal, which quashed the lower court's decision.
The woman took an appeal of the Nova Scotia court's decision to Ottawa. But today, that ended when the Supreme Court of Canada refused to hear the case.
