A 39-year-old-man is facing an attempted murder charge after a stabbing in Timberlea, N.S., Sunday night.

Officers responded to a home on Oakvale Crescent at 2:40 a.m. where they found a 26-year-old woman suffering from stab wounds, said Const. Tammy Lobb in a release.

She was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.

The RCMP and Halifax regional police arrested the man as he was trying to flee.

Police say the accused and the victim know each other.

The man is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court Monday afternoon.

Besides attempted murder, the man is facing three other charges including uttering threats.

The investigation is ongoing.
