A mother and her daughter were struck by a car in a crosswalk on the Bedford Highway Thursday night, say Halifax police (CBC)A mother and her daughter were struck by a car in a crosswalk on the Bedford Highway Thursday night, say police.
Halifax Regional Police said the incident happened just after 8 p.m. near the Sobeys.
The pair suffered from minor injuries, say police.
Witness Liam MacDonald said he saw the mother unconscious.
"They started to cross the street and a car just went by and just hit them. Knocked them both off their feet."
The Bedford Highway was closed for an hour. (CBC)Other witnesses said the setting sun was shining directly into the front window of the car and could have played a factor in the accident.
Officers examined the scene and spoke to the driver, who came to a stop just beyond the crosswalk heading north on the highway.
Police blocked off a section near the Hammonds Plains Road for almost an hour as they got help for the mother and daughter.
The road was reopened around 9 p.m.
