A 24-year-old Nova Scotia woman has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Ben Hare two-years ago.

It marks the second murder charge in the case this week.

Barbara Elizabeth Marshall, formerly of Truro, was arrested outside Truro provincial court Wednesday morning and held overnight.

She appeared in court Thursday morning and was remanded until July 12.

Hare, 26, was found dead outside a Truro apartment July 8, 2010, after a brawl at a party.

Truro police Chief David MacNeil said Marshall, who lives in Halifax, was identified as a suspect early on, but was only arrested after police obtained new information, evidence, and forensic analyses.

Dustan Preeper has also been charged with second degree murder in Hare's death.

Macneil said Marshall and Preeper know each other, but did not elaborate on their relationship.

Preeper is also facing a first-degree murder charge in the death of 20-year-old Melissa Dawn Peacock.

Police said Preeper had previously been charged with second-degree murder in Hare's death before the charges were withdrawn.

When the charges were withdrawn against Preeper in the Hare case, the Crown didn't offer any reasons.
