Intertape Polymer to shift work from Truro plant
No layoffs expected at company's N.S. location

"We expect to absorb most — if not all — the employees who are affected by this decision," Intertape Polymer Group Inc. spokesman Rick Leckner told CBC News in a phone interview from Montreal.
Leckner said that's about 30 people in total.
The company is moving its shrink film production from Truro to its Tremonton, Utah plant as part of a reorganization effort to save money. The plastics and paper company also announced Tuesday it is closing a plant in Kentucky.
The Nova Scotia plant will continue to make some products for the Montreal-based company, which manufactures plastic wrapping and tapes for packaging.
Leckner said the company believes the lost production in Truro will be offset by an expansion in its woven fabric operations at the same location.
The company has a total of 19 locations employing 1,800 people, mostly in North America. It also has one manufacturing plant in Europe and 12 in North America.
Intertape Polymer Group Inc. makes a variety of paper and film based pressure-sensitive and water-activated tapes, specialized polyolefin films, woven fabrics and complementary packaging systems for industrial use and retail applications.
