The union for government workers whose jobs are being transferred to New Waterford says almost all of them will not move to Cape Breton.

The Nova Scotia Government and General and Employees Union says 22 of the 23 maintenance enforcement officers have opted not to move with their jobs.

In April, the Dexter government announced it would centralize all maintenance enforcement officers in New Waterford.

NSGEU president Joan Jessome says there is one employee who hasn't committed to moving or staying.

Originally, civil servants had until tomorrow to indicate whether they would accept a transfer.

But Jessome says that deadline has been extended to July 4.
