A man was arrested in Halifax Thursday after allegedly fleeing a bank robbery on his bicycle.

A robber hit the CIBC on Parkland Drive in Clayton Park around 5:30 p.m. and police received reports of a man acting suspiciously and fleeing the bank.

Police arrested a 43-year-old man on a bicycle nearby a few minutes later. Police say they found cash and a fake firearm in the man's knapsack.

Police charged the man with Thursday's robbery and also charged him with an April 27 bank robbery at the CIBC on Barrington Street.

The man is due in court Friday morning.
