An elderly woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a three-vehicle collision in Dartmouth Thursday evening in which she was driving the wrong way.

The woman was driving in the wrong direction on Highway 111 at about 6:15 p.m. and when she took an exit, she crashed head-on with two vehicles near the Portland Street overpass.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were treated at the scene.

The highway was closed for about four hours.

Police are still investigating.
