A convicted killer's parole has been revoked because police consider him to be a suspect in a "serious" ongoing investigation, National Parole Board documents show.

Chris Falconer, 29, has been behind bars since he was arrested in New Glasgow in November on a parole violation.

At the time, police in the area were busy with the ongoing homicide investigation of Amber Kirwan.

The body of the Pictou County teenager, who disappeared Oct. 9 after leaving a New Glasgow bar, was discovered on a logging trail in a wooded area off Heathbell Road on Nov. 5.

RCMP confirmed it was a homicide but didn't say how Kirwan died. They launched an investigation — during which Falconer's name came up several times.

The police began conducting an extensive search of a home and property on Hardwood Hill Road, at a property rented by Falconer's stepsister. The property is several kilometres away from where Kirwan's body was discovered.

Through the course of the homicide investigation, police also seized a car that neighbours said Falconer was seen regularly driving.

Then the convicted killer was arrested, but police stressed it had nothing to do with the Amber Kirwan investigation.

No arrests have been made in the case.

"In October 2011, you were questioned by police regarding your possible involvement in a serious offence they are currently investigating," the National Parole Board wrote about Falconer.

"Because of the police concerns, the Correctional Service of Canada issues a warrant of apprehension and suspension, which was executed by local police without incident."

Falconer had been serving a life sentence after being convicted of second-degree murder in the death of a cab driver who was killed in Heathbell in 1998.

He was granted full parole in May 2011.

According to the National Parole Board documents, when Falconer was arrested, he had a knife, marijuana cigarettes and a .22 calibre magazine containing eight .22 calibre rounds.

"While the board acknowledges that you are currently a subject of interest to police and that the information is still a matter for the police to resolve, it is nevertheless left with concerns," the board wrote.

"Given that you had weapons and related items as well as drugs in your possession, and were experiencing considerable emotional instability, the board is statisfied that your risk had become unmanageable in the community."

On Wednesday, RCMP refused to comment on the National Parole Board documents, nor would they confirm Falconer is a suspect in the Amber Kirwan investigation.
